Virginia Tech football team to wear decals honoring Adam and Alison for Ohio St. game

BLACKSBURG, Va. -The Virginia Tech football team will wear special decals on its helmets honoring WDBJ7’s Alison Parker and Adam Ward during its game against Ohio State on Labor Day. Parker and Ward were shot and killed during a live broadcast Wednesday. Ward graduated from Virginia Tech and was a huge Hokies fan. The decals feature maroon and turquoise ribbons and the number 7, which represents WDBJ7. Maroon represents Adam’s connection to Virginia Tech, and the turquoise signifies Alison’s favorite color. “It’s extremely important that the families and loved ones of Allison Parker, Adam Ward, and WDBJ-TV, know that we stand united with them through this painful time,” Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer said. “My heart is absolutely broken for the Parker and Ward families and my prayer is that they gain strength and peace through the support and love of this community.” Ohio State won the national championship last season. Prior to that, Adam was overjoyed when Virginia Tech upset Ohio State last year, handing the Buckeyes their only loss of the season. Adam was such a big Hokies fan, he usually lost his voice during the games. The Virginia Tech athletic department honored Adam and Alison earlier this week with a moment of silence at its volleyball and soccer matches.
