Aug. 31, 2015Big Ten Football Release PDF• The Big Ten is set to kick off its 120th season of competition when teams begin play Sept. 3-7.  Once again in 2015, each school will play the other six schools in its division plus two teams from the other division. This season will serve as the final transitional year before schools move to nine-game conference slates in 2016.• The Big Ten will continue to feature the largest bowl lineup in conference history. This season, the Big Ten’s bowl lineup will be highlighted by 16 potential bowl destinations in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, New York, Tennessee and Texas.• The 2015 Big Ten campaign will feature 28 All-Conference players from last season, with 11 first-team honorees and 17 second-team selections returning to the field.• More than 150 Academic-All Big Ten selections return from the 2014 season, along with 25 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.• Ohio State enters the 2015 season as the defending national champion, riding a 13-game winning streak. The Buckeyes will aim for their second straight Big Ten Championship this season, after winning the Big Ten Football Championship Game last season. Ohio State looks to repeat as conference champions for the first time since finishing atop the standings in five straight seasons from 2005-09 and would be the first Big Ten team to win back-to-back titles since Wisconsin claimed three consecutive crowns from 2010-12.• Ohio State’s national title in football was one of 10 team national crowns claimed by Big Ten schools in 2014-15, breaking the previous record of nine titles in 1999-2000. The Buckeyes’ football team was joined by Maryland women’s lacrosse, Michigan State women’s cross country, Minnesota women’s ice hockey, Nebraska women’s bowling, Ohio State open pistol, women’s rowing, synchronized swimming and wrestling and Penn State women’s volleyball as national champions in 2014-15.LETTERED IN LIFEThis season the Big Ten is launching a unique online video series that will feature senior students looking back to give advice to themselves as freshmen. From memorable on-field highlights to important advice from professors and coaches that have shaped their time on campus, students will give us an inside look at their experience both on and off the field.
