On one such afternoon, Grandma told Tyvis that she was thirsty. Could he grab her some water? Tyvis was only about two years old at the time, but he was able to complete the task. He did as he was told and came back, cup in hand. Grandma drank the water, remarking how good it tasted and how refreshingly cold it was. She asked him for more water. “So, she follows him to go where he got the water from,” Robin Powell-Richardson says, laughing, “and he got it out of the toilet.” Toddler Tyvis was just as much a jokester as Tyvis Powell, 21-year-old Ohio State safety. His mother, whose laugh is almost as boisterous as her son’s, says he gets his sense of humor and zest for life from her parents and his siblings. Jordan Moore, Tyvis’s childhood friend, says his buddy started out goofy and has only gotten sillier as the years have passed.
