Ohio State promotes new video, ‘Imported from Detroit’

Updated Sep 4, 2015 at 3:32p ET The latest volley in the historic and never-ending recruiting battle among Ohio State and its neighbors to the north has been launched, and it isn’t subtle. Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alfrod shared a video from YouTube with the title, “Imported from Detroit.” It features sophomore cornerback Damon Webb describing his relationship with the OSU coaches and why he chose Ohio State as a four-star prospect from Detroit Cass Tech two years ago. The video also shows OSU freshman running back Mike Weber, another Cass Tech alum, walking into Ohio State’s preseason camp wearing an “Imported from Detroit” shirt that caused a stir at the time. true [embedded content] Of course, the video easily can be interpreted as a shot not only at Michigan but also Michigan State. Both schools naturally rely heavily on recruiting the largest city in their state, but Ohio State has signed the top prospect in Detroit each of the past two seasons (Webb and Weber), and new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh told a group of the city’s high school coaches last summer he intends to make Michigan a priority school for their players again. Harbaugh shortly thereafter got a commit from Michael Onwenu, a four-star offensive lineman from Cass Tech.
