The Ohio State Buckeyes return to Ohio Stadium for the first time as national championships to take on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Ohio State got its season off to a strong start with an impressive showing against Virginia Tech and a 42-24 win. Cardale Jones emerged as the starting quarterback, converted QB Braxton Miller played exceptionally well at wide receiver, and an all-around talented team began its title defense convincingly. They weren’t flawless, but a repeat certainly looks quite possible. Hawaii won its season opener against Colorado 28-20 as officials could not spot the ball before the clock expired in the final 10 seconds, and the Buffaloes were unable to attempt a final play. Rainbow Warriors quarterback Max Wittek finished the night 19-for-38 with 202 yards for three touchdowns and two interceptions. Ohio State and Hawaii have never played against each other.
