So impressive were the Spartans that they stole two first-place votes from Ohio State in the Associated Press Top 25. Or was that a result of the Buckeyes’ somewhat sleepy showing in a 38-0 win against Hawaii? Yes, expectations for Ohio State are slightly out of hand. The league followed an 8-6 showing in the opening week of play with a 12-2 performance Saturday as second-year members Rutgers and Maryland dropped games at home. Week 3 features the start of conference play and five Big Ten matchups with the ACC. Here’s a look at five items to watch: Quarterback questions at Ohio State and Maryland: You knew we weren’t done with the QB drama in Columbus, right? Coach Urban Meyer opened the door for the calls to play J.T. Barrett after the coach inserted the sophomore in the second quarter Saturday. Barrett, though, didn’t fare any better than Cardale Jones, who returned in the second half. Together, they completed 20 of 33 throws for 181 yards.
