Pundits: MSU, OSU might be best in college football

The question is, what took them so long?

But after Saturday’s win over Oregon, the nation’s college football pundits are starting to treat Michigan State with more respect, some even mentioning the Spartans in the same breath as … No. 1 Ohio State.

And speaking of the Buckeyes, did you see they left the word “Michigan” off of the list of their wins on the 2014 national championship trophy, instead inscribing “TUN” for “Team Up North”?

But in a lack of respect, they spelled out “Michigan State.” If anybody deserves the Team That Must Not Be Named treatment now, it’s the Spartans.

Only MSU, for example, can keep OSU from running the table again, says Fox Sports college football analyst Brady Quinn.

“I don’t know about you, but I think Sparty made a pretty big statement vs. Oregon this past week,” Quinn said today on “The Dan Patrick Show.”

“And really, Mark Dantonio, what he’s done with that program is probably the most underlooked program in all of college football right now. I think, if I’m not mistaken, he gave Urban his only loss in the Big Ten a few years ago.”

He’s talking about the 2013 season, when MSU beat Urban Meyer’s 12-0 Buckeyes in the Big Ten championship game.
