Cardale Jones changed his Twitter bio to ‘2nd String’ quarterback for Ohio State

Barrett — and it looks like that pair might battle for the job all season long. Buckeyes Coach Urban Meyer had given Jones the starting nod at the start of the season, largely as a reward for the job the burly player had done the previous season in relief of an injured Barrett, when Jones led OSU on a late-season charge to the national championship. [Ohio State struggles with Northern Illinois, barely hangs on] However, Jones struggled Saturday against Northern Illinois, completing just 4 of 9 passes for 36 yards and two interceptions. Meyer decided to yank Jones for Barrett early in the second quarter, and although the latter didn’t exactly shred the Mid-American Conference opponent himself, completing 11 of 19 passes for 97 yards and an interception, he did throw for a touchdown and helped No. 1 OSU rally for a 20-13 win. After the game, Meyer declined to say right away who his starting quarterback would be for next week’s game against Western Michigan. Jones, though, may have provided a clue, via his Twitter bio: Of course, rather than breaking any news about Meyer’s plans, Jones was likely just trying to find some humor in the situation.
