COLUMBUS, Ohio — Here’s what we know about the Ohio State quarterbacks: One is named Cardale Jones, the other J.T. Barrett. Here’s what we don’t know: Why they’re struggling, how they’re getting along, whether that even matters, what their teammates think, what coach Urban Meyer really thinks and how it all will play out. Before the Northern Illinois game, Meyer said: “Cardale is our quarterback, unless someone beats him out.” Or unless he lets someone beat him out. Jones got benched after throwing two picks and producing just three points in his five drives. Barrett replaced him, and his first three drives went like this: three-and-out, touchdown, turnover on downs. Quarterbacks, of course, always get too much credit and blame. The Buckeyes’ offensive line is underachieving, as evidenced by the game’s final minutes: Ezekiel Elliott got stuffed on a third-and-2.
