Maybe Saturday’s biggest winner. The Gators survived Tennessee a week ago to maintain supremacy in that series, and it figured to be one of the highlights of a transitional season. Instead, Florida throttled Mississippi 38-10, smacking away the Rebels’ national title hopes while placing itself in the conference championship conversation. Former coach Will Muschamp left behind a bunch of defensive talent, so it wasn’t unfathomable for Florida to win a low-scoring game against one of the SEC’s more loaded teams. But to get the play it did from quarterback Will Grier (four touchdown passes) and its offense? That could be a game-changer for the Gators.
