Ohio State Football: Ezekiel Elliott rushes back into the Heisman race

After another narrow victory (this time over unranked conference foe Indiana), Ohio State football seems to have endless issues on offense. Cardale Jones looks lost in an offense loaded with talented athletes and since his week one performance in a win over Virginia Tech, Jones has failed to convince the nation that he’s deserving of the starting spot. Urban Meyer’s decision-making continues to be questioned as fans call for J.T. Barrett to start. The offensive line (or ‘slobs’ as they prefer to be called) have been disheveled and unable to protect their quarterback from opposing pass rushers. Electric, athletic receiving threats like Braxton Miller and Jalin Marshall have been inconsistent in their contributions and it seems Miller still has plenty of work to do if he wants to succeed in his new position. Despite all these issues, Ezekiel Elliott has continued to perform as the lone bright spot in an otherwise dull and underachieving offense. Fresh off a career-high 274 rushing yards (including three 50+ yard touchdown runs), Elliott has cemented himself as the workhorse of the offense and has vaulted himself back into Heisman contention. Chasing Fournette At the start of the season, Elliott was tied with TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin with 7/1 odds to bring home the award come December.
