Still No. 1? Ohio State wobbles again before putting Terps away

Braxton Miller made an impact in the receiving game vs. Maryland. (USATSI) There were reasons to expect Maryland to give Ohio State a better game than expected Saturday. Perry Hills returned at quarterback, possibly giving them a spark. Randy Edsall’s teams have generally been a little feistier on the road than at home. And of course, the Terps appeared to be playing for Edsall’s job. So downing Maryland by three full touchdowns, 49-28, isn’t nearly the ugliest-looking result of this stop-start 2015 season for Ohio State. Most encouragingly, the Buckeyes put their recent red zone woes behind them by inserting J.T. Barrett at quarterback once the ball crossed the Terps 20, finishing the game with six touchdowns on six red zone possessions. Urban Meyer’s offense also got Braxton Miller involved for the first time in weeks, with the former All-Big Ten quarterback catching five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown.
