Ohio State football: Two-quarterback system here to stay – for now

COLUMBUS >> The two-quarterback system Ohio State used against Maryland isn’t etched in stone. But if it gleans the same result this weekend against Penn State, it might be. The Buckeyes employed a new system in a 49-28 win over Maryland. Starting quarterback Cardale Jones ran the offense the majority of the time, with backup J.T. Barrett entering once OSU advanced into the red zone – i.e. inside the 20-yard line. The move produced rave results, with Jones throwing for 291 yards and two touchdowns, Barrett running for three scores, and the Buckeyes going six-for-six (with six touchdowns) in their trips into the red zone. So is the move permanent? “I think so,” Coach Urban Meyer said on Oct. 12. “But I’m not writing it in a Sharpie yet.
