Big Ten football power rankings, Oct. 13

1. Michigan (5-1, 2-0) Man, oh man is this Wolverine defense good. They lead the Big Ten Conference in rush defense, pass defense, total defense and scoring defense. The Wolverines’ total defense ranks second in the country, Michigan is allowing just 181.3 yards per game and its scoring defense is the best in the nation holding opponents to 6.3 points per game. The Wolverines have also shutout their last three opponents. Michigan’s offense, which was said to be its Achilles’ heel, has scored 98 points in its last three games. 2. Ohio State (6-0, 2-0) The current No. 1 team in the nation has yet to find its stride this season. Ohio State didn’t look all that impressive once again in a 49-28 win against Maryland. The Buckeyes let the Terps hang around most of the game. The good news for Ohio State is Cardale Jones finally looks like the quarterback from last year’s playoffs…
