After some wild finishes in Week 8, there was a great deal of movement in the latest AP top 25 poll. Two unbeaten teams suffered painful road defeats to unranked opponents on Saturday to lose their places in the top 10. Utah plummeted from No. 3 in the rankings to No. 13, after the Utes were thumped by USC at the Coliseum. Florida State entered the week as No. 9 and fell to No. 17 after a game-winning field goal attempt turned into a blocked kick and fumble recovery for a touchdown for Georgia Tech on the final play of the game. The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to their grip on the top spot after trouncing Rutgers, while the Baylor Bears remains at No. 2 but lost a few first place votes.
