Ohio St. reports minor NCAA violations, two involving Miller, Jones

Two of Ohio State’s six minor NCAA infractions involved Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones. (USATSI) Ohio State self-reported 29 total violations across all sports to the NCAA from February 1 to September 10, according to records obtained by The Lantern. Of the 29 violations, six were by the Ohio State football team — the most of any sport. All of the violations reported to the NCAA were minor in nature. Among violations reported were an Instagram post from Braxton Miller promoting AdvoCare products, as well as Cardale Jones making an appearance at Joe Haden’s Celebrity Softball game in Cleveland despite the athletic department previously telling him not to. Neither violation resulted in any penalty — playing time or otherwise — for the players. The other four violations involved impermissable travel for one player to the national championship game, two coaches calling the same recruit in one week, a coach taking a picture with high school coaches, and a player tweeting about a 2016 prospect. You can read the specifics about each of the violations reported here.
