Ohio State quarterback battle takes another dramatic twist with JT Barrett arrest

Follow @STN_Sports Ohio State has suspended its quarterback J.T. Barrett for one game after he was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly driving a vehicle which intoxicated near campus. The school announced that Barrett was cited by Columbus police at a campus area check point with a misdemeanor offense of OVI. He’ll serve his suspension for top-ranked Ohio State’s game against Minnesota on Nov. 7. Because it’s a misdemeanor, Barrett is not subject to the mandatory two-week suspension. ESPN reports that Barrett attempted to avoid a DUI checkpoint near the school campus. ElevenWarriors.com cites CPD sources, who said “Barrett was cooperative and blew into a breathalyzer, registering slightly over Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08 blood-alcohol concentration.” Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith told ESPN that Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer decided on Barrett’s punishment.
