Barrett appeared in Columbus Municipal Court Tuesday morning and pled guilty to operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI). Barrett, who is underage, was arrested on Halloween after he failed a breathalyzer test when he was stopped at a checkpoint. Barrett’s attorney said that he was driving an intoxicated friend home. Barrett was fined $400, and will have to complete an alcohol education program. “I just wanted to apologize to my family for this embarrassment and also the Ohio State football program, and also Buckeye nation. I never want to hurt Ohio State, what it has done for me as a player and also as a person. I’m truly sorry for that.” Barrett was suspended for one game (which the Buckeyes won), and is eligible to return this weekend. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Monday that he would not levy any further punishment, and that he will start Barrett over Cardale Jones if Barrett “has a good week of practice.” (Thanks to College Spun for sharing this video.)
