Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame top College Football Playoff rankings

Notre Dame jumped into the fourth spot in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings after a week of surprises and upsets among many of the top teams. The Fighting Irish (8-1) moved up one spot into the projected final four after defeating Pittsburgh 42-30 on Saturday. Clemson (9-0) retained its hold on the top spot in the latest poll, with the Tigers surviving a showdown with Florida State to remain one of six undefeated teams in the country. With the victory, coach Dabo Swinney’s team locked up the ACC Atlantic Division and a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game. Alabama (8-1) moved up two spots from last week, ranking No. 2 in the poll after the Tide’s impressive 30-16 victory over Louisiana State.
