The pain is gone after the surgery to address a fracture in his right wrist. Tommy Schutt’s return will offer a big boos to an already undefeated Ohio State team. Khris Hale/Icon SportswireConsidering all the good-natured jokes from teammates and how well Schutt was playing before making the decision to go under the knife and miss a few games while starting to break out for Ohio State, perhaps that’s for the best for the senior and a sign that more production is on the way before he wraps up his career. “I brought that up with the trainers and doctors, but this was something they really wanted to get fixed, especially with it being my right hand,” Schutt said. “They really wanted to make sure my dominant hand was functional for the rest of my life, and we felt it was a good opportunity with the bye week coming up. Get back out there as soon as I could. “The hardest adjustment was really getting used to playing with this cast on and having to deal with that for the rest of the season.” Schutt may not have been entirely comfortable with the new equipment in his last competitive action, particularly after taking one hard shot to his hand that had him in some extra pain while dealing with the scaphoid fracture against Penn State. But he responded on the next play by making his first solo sack of the season, having exactly the kind of impact the Buckeyes were hoping for when they delayed his surgery to have him on the field for the crucial division game last month. Schutt had actually suffered the injury a week earlier in the first quarter against Maryland, and he played through that as well and chipped in a tackle for loss. …
