Gonzalez/DFP) COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State was favored by a couple touchdowns in the most anticipated Big Ten game of the season, and that was before everyone knew Michigan State star quarterback Connor Cook would not be able to play because of an injured right shoulder. As the No. 9 Spartans kicked off to the No. 2 Buckeyes in front of an Ohio Stadium record crowd of 108,975 today, the only question in most minds was of margin, not result – how ugly would this get? But then MSU came out with a championship effort defensively. And the best performance of the season from its offensive line. And perhaps the greatest regular-season win of Mark Dantonio’s career. MSU junior kicker Michael Geiger nailed a 41-yard field goal as time expired for a stunning 17-14 victory for the Spartans – who dominated the game statistically and won despite two crucial turnovers leading to two short OSU touchdown drives. As Geiger’s kick sailed through, MSU players streamed onto the field in a wild celebration. They had earned an opportunity for big things ahead…
