Elliott, a Heisman Trophy contender who has more than 3,500 rushing yards in his career, carried the ball an astounding low 12 times for 33 yards against the Spartans including just two second-half carries. “I deserve more than (12) carries,” Elliott said. “I can’t speak for the playcaller. I don’t know what was going on.” Ohio State’s offensive gameplan was baffling across the board on Saturday, particularly given the rainy and windy conditions.
