Without Connor Cook, Michigan State beats Ohio State on last-second field goal

COLUMBUS, OHIO — Michigan State outpowered Ohio State in a smash-mouth affair at Ohio Stadium, prevailing 17-14 despite not having the services of senior quarterback Connor Cook. Michael Geiger connected on a 41-yard field goal as time expired to lift the No. 9-ranked Spartans (10-1, 6-1) over the No. 3-ranked Buckeyes (10-1, 6-1) and into first place in the Big Ten East. MSU players stormed the field after their victory snapped Ohio State’s NCAA-record 30-game regular-season conference win streak on a damp, wind-swept Saturday afternoon.
