Harbaugh, Meyer set for first matchup

Saturday’s game needs no introduction. If you say “The Game” around these parts, the matchup you’re referring to is clear. This year’s edition of the Michigan-Ohio State football rivalry will take place Saturday in Ann Arbor, and the 10th-ranked Wolverines and eighth-ranked Buckeyes are both ranked in the top 10 for the contest for the first time since 2006. The path to this moment has been full of twists and turns. Fans have looked forward to this game, the first between Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, since Harbaugh was hired to coach the Wolverines last December. But despite the hype for the matchup between two top coaches, few people expected Michigan to rise to a top-10 ranking so quickly after finishing 5-7 last season. Much of the success can be attributed to Harbaugh. He arrived at Michigan last December during a time when he was considered the best free-agent football coach on the market, regardless of level. His first season was supposed to mark a revival of the program, and it has, even more so than expected.
