When Urban Meyer agreed with Ezekiel Elliott’s criticisms of the offense after the star running back’s controversial locker room comments, it was clear that No. 8 Ohio State would give Zeke plenty of opportunities. But no one could be sure how Elliott and the Buckeyes ground game would perform against a solid Michigan front. After getting stopped short on his first three touches, Elliott broke free for a long 66-yard run that set up Ohio State’s first touchdown and kick-started a stellar performance for the junior running back that powered the Buckeyes in a 42-13 rout in the Big House. Elliott finished the game with 214 rushing yards (7.1 yards per carry) and two touchdowns. It was his fifth career 200-yard rushing game, tying Eddie George for the school record, and the performance moved him up to No. 2 on the Ohio State rushing list behind Archie Griffin. Quarterback J.T. Barrett did a great job pulling the trigger for the offense, racking up 139 rushing yards and finishing the game with four total touchdowns.
