Virginia down starting point guard London Perrantes vs. Ohio State

Virginia won’t have starting point guard London Perrantes in the lineup on Tuesday night for its game against Ohio State in Columbus while the junior recovers from an appendectomy. The school announced Tuesday afternoon that Perrantes underwent the procedure on Sunday, and even his availability for Saturday’s game against William & Mary is yet to be determined. The loss of Perrantes hurts Virginia’s offense on a a few ways. Not only is he a double-digit scorer (10 points, 5.3 assists per game), but he plays a ton of minutes at the point which allows Malcolm Brogdon, the team’s best offensive threat, to play off the ball. With Perrantes out Tony Bennett will likely turn to Brogdon as the primary option to bring the ball up the floor, with Marial Shayok and/or Devon Hall helping facilitate offense from the outside. Virginia and Ohio State tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET in Columbus. At the time the Perrantes news was announced, the Wahoos were anywhere from 7 to 8-point favorites in the contest. London Perrantes underwent an appendectomy on Sunday and will miss the Ohio State game. (USATSI)
