Joey Bosa Ejected from 2016 Fiesta Bowl for Targeting: Latest Comments, Reaction

In what was likely his final collegiate game, Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa was ejected during the first quarter of the Fiesta Bowl on Friday for targeting.

As seen in this video courtesy of ESPN, the junior pass-rusher got tossed after leading with his helmet while hitting Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer:

Boss took to Twitter to apologize of the ejection:

Bosa is one of the top-ranked prospects eligible for the 2016 NFL draft, and all signs point toward the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native’s forgoing his senior season for a shot at being the No. 1 overall pick.

On Thursday, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer told reporters Bosa would be declaring for the draft.

While Bosa has an extremely bright football future ahead of him, ending his college career on a targeting call was likely a heartbreaking feeling.

Even former Notre Dame tight end Jake Golic felt for Bosa despite the fact that he got ejected against his alma mater:

The loss of Bosa is a big one for the Buckeyes with regard to the Fiesta Bowl since he entered the game with 47 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and five sacks to his credit in 11 games. He registered an impressive 13.5 sacks last season en route to helping OSU win the national title.

With Bosa out of the equation, Ohio State will be forced to lean on the likes of sophomore Tyquan Lewis and freshman Sam Hubbard to pressure the quarterback, which opens the door for Notre Dame to get back into it.
