Darron Lee Declares for 2016 NFL Draft: Latest Comments and Reaction

Ohio State Buckeyes linebacker Darron Lee announced his intention to declare for the 2016 NFL draft Saturday following the Buckeyes’ 44-28 Fiesta Bowl win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday.

Lee posted a message on Twitter explaining his decision:

The move is a sensible one for the redshirt sophomore, who put forth a superb showing in the Fiesta Bowl that he capped off by forcing a fumble on the Buckeyes’ final defensive possession. Lee also notched two sacks and seven tackles in the 16-point victory.

According to Sports-Reference.com, Lee posted 80 total tackles—including 16 for loss—and 6.5 sacks last season before totaling 66 tackles—11 for loss—and 4.5 sacks in 2015.

At 6’2” and 235 pounds with plus quickness, Lee should be a highly sought-after prospect once draft season gets underway.
