Ezekiel Elliott Wants Chicago Bears to Draft Him

Rob Ogden of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott aspires to be drafted by the Chicago Bears, going as far as to call it a “dream situation.” (Hat tip to Pro Football Talk.) Elliott cites that his former running backs coach with the Buckeyes, Stan Drayton, currently works for the Bears, his primary reason for wanting to work with the team. ESPN’s Todd McShay projects that Chicago, who currently hold the 11th overall pick, will select UCLA linebacker Myles Jack in the first round, with Elliott not coming off the board until the New York Jets take him with the 20th overall pick. As Ogden notes, the Bears have not selected a running back in the first round since the team took Cedric Benson in the 2005 draft. Longtime Chicago running back Matt Forte, who was taken in the second round of the 2008 Draft, is entering the free agent market this spring. Chicago’s present options at running back for 2016 include Ka’Deem Carey and Jeremy Langford, who both have career rushing averages of 4.0 yards per carry or less. There are several other options at running back available in free agency this offseason, including Chris Ivory, Doug Martin, and Lamar Miller.
