Jackpot? Urban Meyer gets verbal commit from Las Vegas DT

Less than a week after Ohio State finished up the top recruiting class in the Big Ten for 2016, Urban Meyer added a four-star prospect to his 2017 class. Haskell Garrett, the No. 2 defensive tackle in the country according to Scout.com, announced his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes on Tuesday morning.  Listed 6-foot-2 and 270 pounds, Garrett attends Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman.  He is the first Ohio State player Meyer has recruited from Nevada.  That gives Meyer prospects from 24 different states since he took over in Columbus in late November 2011.  Ohio State’s 2017 class already has 11 members, including five players from Ohio as well as prospects from Florida, Colorado and New York.  If you subscribe to the theory a football team can never have enough good players on the line — and Meyer does — this is undoubtedly a big pickup for the Buckeyes.  Haskell gives Ohio State two of the nation’s top 10 already for 2017, joining Jerron Cage of Cincinnati Winton Woods.
