Big Ten NFL Scouting Combine invite list highlighted by DL, QBs

When the NFL Scouting Combine commences later this month in Indianapolis, every Big Ten team can expect to be represented.  In fact, every team in the conference will have more than one representative aside from Purdue, which will only have cornerback Anthony Brown.  Ohio State leads the way with 14 players, including nine underclassmen.  Conference champion and College Football Playoff representative Michigan State will have seven while Penn State has five and Big Ten West champ Iowa has four (the same total as Maryland and Nebraska).  More than 25 percent of those invited are defensive linemen, including three from Penn State (tackles Austin Johnson and Anthony Zettel and end Carl Nassib) and Michigan State (end Shilique Calhoun and tackles Lawrence Thomas and Joel Heath) and two each from Maryland, Nebraska and Ohio State Five conference quarterbacks were invited to the combine, including Ohio State’s Cardale Jones, who began the season as the Buckeyes’ starter but was benched in November in favor of sophomore J.T.
