Rutgers fans need more patience after 79-69 loss to Ohio State

PISCATAWAY — Rutgers coach Eddie Jordan pleaded for patience from fans on Thursday. Obviously, Jordan was looking longer term than two days, as his team lost again on Saturday, 79-69, to Ohio State at the RAC. Rutgers has now lost 27 straight Big Ten games. The Scarlet Knights (6-19, 0-12 Big Ten) have just six games remaining to avoid going winless in conference this season. “If that’s the way they feel, I’m just sorry they feel that way,” Jordan said Thursday when asked if he was concerned about losing fan support during the losing season. “They just have to be more educated into what the real deal is. And if they understand what this conference is all about, what types of teams and players we’re going against and the situation we’re in with injuries and being a young team, if they don’t understand that, then I don’t need to read what their reaction is. I don’t care about their reaction actually.” It didn’t appear that the crowd, which featured a good amount of Buckeyes supporters, held any animosity toward Jordan for his comments. There was barely a reaction from the 5,658 in attendance when the third-year coach, who has a 28-62 record at Rutgers, was introduced before the game. “That episode is over for me,” Jordan said. “We’re moving on.” The Scarlet Knights fell into a big hole early and were never able to climb out despite making numerous charges. …
