An Ohio State football recruiting update for the week of March 23, 2016. It’s difficult to talk about the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation and say it had a slow week.Ohio State might no have landed any commitments in the past week, but it certainly made moves on the recruiting trail by extending offers to three prospects in the 2018 class.The Buckeyes offered Palaie Gaoteote, an outside linebacker from Las Vegas. At 6-foot-2, 210 lbs Gaoteote lives in the backfield. As a sophomore, he recorded 92 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss. He attacks ball carriers and closes in on running lanes before they even have a chance to open up. The other defensive recruit Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes offered is Leonard Taylor, a defensive end from Springfield, Ohio. Taylor is 6-foot-5, 240 lbs and can play tight end, though he makes a bigger impact as a run-stuffing defensive end. He explodes out of a four-point stance and gets his hands inside on offensive linemen to maintain separation and find the ball carrier.Last and not all least is L’Christian Smith, a 4-star wide receiver from Huber Heights, Ohio.
