Greg Oden is working as a student basketball manager at Ohio State

Thad Matta has had a lot of really good players since arriving at Ohio State; everyone from Mike Conley to Evan Turner, D’Angelo Russell and Jared Sullinger. However, none came to Columbus (or left it) with hype anywhere near what Greg Oden experienced in 2006. Obviously, things didn’t work out as planned for Oden in the pros, but at Ohio State he’s still an icon, after leading the Buckeyes to the title game during his only season at the school. Therefore it’s no surprise to find out that Oden recently returned to campus to go back to school and is serving as a manager for the basketball team. For those wondering what the job responsibilities of a former-lottery-pick-turned-student manager entail, apparently it’s rebounding for walk-ons. At least according to the video released by the Ohio State team managers page on Twitter. Clearly this isn’t how many — including himself — envisioned his career playing out, but at the same time, it’s good to see him back in school, and apparently taking his new role in stride.
