NFL draft winners and losers: Chicago, Big Ten, John Danks, Ohio State

Winner: Ohio State. Think any recruits noticed the program landing five players in the top 20? Said linebacker Darron Lee, who went 20th to the Jets: “It’s a miniature professional team at the college level. The way we go about our business is second to none.” Loser: The Big Ten. Six first-rounders was solid (and second to the SEC’s eight), but the QB drought continues. The league hasn’t had a signal-caller taken in the first round since Penn State’s Kerry Collins … in 1995. Winner: Chicago. The draft might be exiting Chicago after Saturday, but at least Joey Bosa loves it here, calling it “the perfect spot” for the annual talent fest. Worth noting: Bosa has Chicago roots, with his mother and uncle (Eric Kumerow) having attended Oak Park-River Forest High School.  Winner: John Danks. White Sox pitcher (now 0-4) got shelled Thursday night, yielding six runs over five innings in 10-2 loss in Baltimore. But everybody back home was watching the NFL draft, so maybe nobody noticed…
