As great as the College Football Playoff National Championship game was, we truly missed out on what could have been an all-time classic had the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide met in a playoff rematch. Ohio State was the only team in college football who could match Alabama in terms of talent and coaching. Day 1 of the 2016 NFL draft confirms that. The Buckeyes had five players taken in the first 20 picks of the draft – DE Joey Bosa (San Diego Chargers, 3rd overall pick), RB Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas Cowboys, 4th), CB Eli Apple (New York Giants, 10th), OT Taylor Decker (Detroit Lions, 16th) and Darron Lee (New York Jets, 20th). Miami still holds the record for most first-round picks with six in 2004, but almost had to share that distinction had another Buckeye been picked Thursday night.
