OSU assistant: 2 Taylor Decker highlights were wins over Michigan

Video by Romain Blanquart Nov 28, 2015; Ann Arbor, MI, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott (15) receives congratulations from offensive lineman Taylor Decker (68) in the third quarter against the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium.(Photo: Rick Osentoski, USA TODAY Sports) For anyone who has doubts about Detroit Lions’ first-round pick Taylor Decker, his former position coach at Ohio State, Ed Warinner, said they shouldn’t if they watched the Buckeyes beat up on Michigan the past three years. “I’m sure two of his highlights are winning decisively in Ann Arbor his sophomore and senior year as an anchor of our offensive line,” Warinner said in a phone interview Friday. “I’m not doing that to jab anybody, that just would be something that he’s going up to a place where he’s had some success in that area. “People have to respect the fact that if they watch those two games on film and you tell me somebody who played better on the football field in the stadium, offensively or defensively than he did, I don’t know who it would be.” Decker started 42 games over the course of his Ohio State career, playing right tackle as a sophomore and left tackle as a junior and senior. In 2013, the Buckeyes beat Michigan, 42-41, when the Wolverines failed to convert a late two-point attempt. Ohio State ran for 393 yards in the game. Show Thumbnails Show Captions Last SlideNext Slide In 2014, Ohio State beat Michigan, 42-28, and last year the Buckeyes won, 42-13, when Decker paved the way for a 369-yard rushing day. “So a couple 40-point-plus outings with 350 yards plus rushing both of them and he was the anchor for both of those,” Warinner said. “So yeah, I would think that the people up there could appreciate that.” Decker, who was recruited heavily by Brady Hoke out of high school, said he’s happy to taking his football career north despite his deep Buckeye ties. …
