Ohio State Buckeyes finalize football schedules for next 4 seasons

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State University has reached a one-game football scheduling agreement with Tulane University that will have the two schools meeting at Ohio Stadium Sept. 22, 2018. The agreement completes Ohio State’s 2018 football schedule and provides Ohio State with completed schedules for the next four years, through the 2019 campaign. The game will be the first on the gridiron between the Buckeyes and the Green Wave, two programs that have each been in existence for over 120 seasons. Tulane is a member of the American Athletic Conference’s west division, won by coach Tom Herman’s Houston Cougars last season. “Tulane enhances and completes a non-conference schedule in 2018 that already includes Power 5 conference teams TCU and Oregon State,” Martin Jarmond, Deputy Director of Athletics, said. “The Green Wave is part of a fine American Athletic Conference, which produced a New Year’s Day 6 bowl winner last year [Houston over Florida State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl], so its first trip to Ohio Stadium should be exciting for our students and fans.” Tulane is under new leadership. Willie Fritz, 17-7 the past two seasons at Georgia Southern and who was a combined 137-62 record from assignments at Central Missouri and Sam Houston State, was named Green Wave head coach in December. Ohio State is 28-3-1 all-time against teams currently in the American Athletic Conference with a 17-0-1 record since a loss in 1950 to SMU. Ohio State has played Central Florida, Navy and Cincinnati during coach Urban Meyer’s tenure and the Buckeyes host Tulsa Sept. 10 at Ohio Stadium.
