Ohio State Wins Big Ten Baseball Tournament Title

May 29, 2016OMAHA, Neb. – The fourth-seeded Ohio State baseball team won the 2016 Big Ten Tournament title after posting an 8-7 win over eighth-seeded Iowa in the championship game at TD Ameritrade Park on Sunday.   The Buckeyes’ Troy Kuhn delivered the game-winning RBI with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, and pitcher Yianni Pavlopoulos retired three straight Hawkeye batters in the bottom half of the frame to secure the win. Ohio State earned its ninth Big Ten Tournament title and first since 2007.    Ohio State improved to 43-18-1 on the season and earns the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show will air Monday on ESPNU at Noon ET.   Ohio State’s Ronnie Dawson was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after breaking the Big Ten Tournament records of most hits in a Big Ten Tournament (15) and most doubles in a Big Ten Tournament (6).
