Meyer, Buckeyes reach pinnacle of recruiting mountain

It was less than five years ago that Urban Meyer was hired as Ohio State’s head football coach, scrambling to move his family to Columbus, putting together his staff on the fly, and trying to salvage a recruiting class of 2012 that was being held together by duct tape after Tatgate put a black cloud over the program. But Meyer, as he usually does, prevailed, bringing in the nation’s fifth ranked class per the 247Sports Team Composite rankings that cycle, after acquiring the signatures of one five-star and nine four-star prospects following his hiring in late November. Keeping the train rolling, Meyer’s 2014 group was ranked third in the nation, the 2015 group came in at seventh, and the most recent class, 2016, finished fourth, giving Ohio State a top-five class in four of the first five recruiting classes Meyer has been a part of.
