All six returning golfers traveled to Scotland to compete in the 2016 Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship, and have some fun along the way. Roundabouts and left-side driving. Just living that Scotland life. pic.twitter.com/CfqnnIDohY — Ohio State W Golf (@OhioState_WGOLF) June 24, 2016 After two rounds of qualifying stroke play, the 144-player field was trimmed to 64, and two Buckeyes advanced to match play as rising seniors Katja Pogacar and Jessica Porvasnik made the cut. Porvasnik tied for 13th overall, earning the No. 15 seed in match play, while Pogacar finished qualifying tied for 36th. While Pogacar fell in the first Round of 64 to Lena Schaeffner of Coastal Carolina, Porvasnik bested Missouri’s Jessica Meek and then Italian Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso to advance to the final 16. Unfortunately, it was there that the Buckeye’s run ended as she fell to Arizona State’s Monica Vaughn, a rising senior who ended the 2015-16 NCAA season ranked No. 9. For these student athletes, it was a valuable experience.
