Pair of Buckeyes included on PFF's 101 best players list

Pro Football Focus is one of the most respected resources in the football world when it comes to player evaluation and analysis on performance, with a team that spends hours per week analyzing film and using proprietary data and technology to break down every play by every player. The site recently released its top 101 NFL players based on their evaluation scale, and on Monday followed up by releasing their top 101 college football players, noting that the list was just for the college game and not for NFL projections. While Ohio State lost a ton of talent from last year’s team, many of whom would have certainly been on a top 101 list prior to last season, it was still a bit surprising to see that the Buckeyes only landed two players on this year’s list, in OL Pat Elflein and LB Raekwon McMillan. Elflein was the highest OSU player on the list, coming in at No. 29. PFF said the following of the former guard turned center: There are not a lot of dominant offensive linemen around the country and Elflein has a strong case as the nation’s best. His two-year overall grade of +44.0 leads all Power-5 linemen, showing strength as a run blocker where he ranked 15th in the nation in 2014 and 18th last season.
