Former UK coach Joker Phillips joins Ohio State staff

Kentucky Sports Radio reported Wednesday night that former University of Kentucky football player and coach Joker Phillips has joined Urban Meyer’s coaching staff at Ohio State University. Phillips, who led the Wildcats program as head coach from 2010-2012, will serve the Buckeyes in a “quality control” capacity. He won’t be able to coach on the field or sideline, but could assist with scouting reports or recruit analysis. Phillips, who was the wide receivers coach for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns this past season, also had a previous stint as an assistant coach at the University of Florida before resigning amid a reported NCAA violation.
