SiriusXM names OSU college football's best fan base

As part of its preseason preview package, a SiriusXM College Sports collection of experts has named Ohio State as college football’s best fan base. Buckeye fans outpaced LSU, Michigan, Alabama and Notre Dame in the top 5. The preseason rankings involve most of the spectrum of college football on and off the field. The Buckeye fan base was named the best in the country Thursday morning on a show hosted by former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy. Also Thursday morning, Ohio Stadium was recognized as the nation’s second best, behind only LSU’s Tiger Stadium. Other placed Ohio State has shown up in the Sirius XM rankings: Quarterback JT Barrett, fourth in top 16 quarterbacks. (Top three were Clemson’s DeShawn Watson, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and Ole Miss’ Chad Kelly. Barrett finished one vote ahead of Miami’s Brad Kaaya. No other Big Ten quarterback was on the list.) Ohio State’s Brutus Buckeye was 10th in the top 16 mascots. (LSU’s mascot was voted the nation’s best. The only other Big Ten Mascot in the top 10 was Sparty at 5.) With Ezekiel Elliott’s departure to the NFL, Ohio State had no running back in the top 16. (LSU’s Leonard Fournette was first. Michigan State’s L.J. Scott was 15th and Wisconsin’s Corey Clement 16th.
