Buckeyes give back at Goodwill Special Skills camp

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In just under a month, the Ohio State football players report to camp and begin workouts for the fall season. Today, the players took the field at The Woody Hayes Athletic Center to help instruct special needs athletes at the Goodwill Columbus Special Skills Invitational. Many of the athletes said it was a day they will always remember. Special Olympics athlete Patty Bryant plays track and field and soccer, and many call her “Power Ranger Patty.” Today, she lived up to her nickname by lifting tires, running football drills, and tackling like an Ohio State football player. “It’s a special day for us Special Olympians to get to work out with the Ohio State football players…it’s pretty awesome,” said Bryant. She added, “I’m very grateful they took the time to be with us and be with the community.” The football players also felt fortunate to give back to the community and instruct the athletes with special needs.
