Ohio State Football: Silver Bullets look to reload, not rebuild in 2016

This September, just like Ohio State’s new-look offense, the Buckeye defense will replace eight starters from its 11-1 squad from a year ago. Gone, are 1st round draft picks Joey Bosa, Eli Apple and Darron Lee. Defensive leaders like Joshua Perry and Tyvis Powell have also moved on to the NFL. All Americans Vonn Bell and Adolphus Washington? Also gone. This depleted Buckeye defense is perhaps the main reason why many experts don’t expect much from the recently dominate Buckeyes this season. The good news for Ohio State, however, comes in the form of All American middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan. During his freshman year, backing up then senior Curtis Grant, Raekwon McMillan learned how to lead the Silver Bullets, contributing sparingly to the National Championship squad. Last season, as a true sophomore and bonafide starter, McMillan lead his Buckeye defense with 119 tackles in route to his first All American selection. Now a junior, McMillan will look to further improve his production at linebacker, as the former five star recruit looks to be a first round pick in the 2017 NFL draft (should he decide to forego his senior season).
