Ohio State picked to win Big Ten in unofficial preseason poll

In an unofficial preseason poll conducted by Cleveland.com, Ohio State was picked to win the Big Ten championship this season. The conference stopped its formal preseason poll after 2010, but Cleveland.com has conducted the largest poll of Big Ten media members since. The Buckeyes received 27 votes to finish as the Big Ten champion, while Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan squad received 11 votes. Iowa, who made the conference championship game last season, received one vote.  The poll does have its caveats, having never picked a winner in its four years of existence. The Buckeyes were also picked to win the conference last year, with Michigan State ultimately taking home the crown. The Buckeyes finished 12–1 last season, ending the year ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25.
