(Jonathan Newton/The Washington Post)The weekend that showed again how diverse DeMatha’s reservoir of well-known athletes has become began with a high-profile football commitment, featured an overtime game-winner in lacrosse and hit a crescendo with a statement performance on an international stage by the latest basketball product from the Hyattsville school destined to one day play in the NBA. In other words: It was a good couple of days for the Stags. First came the decision by current DeMatha defensive lineman Chase Young, a rising senior, to commit to Ohio State Friday night while visiting campus for the Buckeyes’ ‘Friday Night Lights’ recruiting event. Young had been considered an Ohio State lean and told reporters in Columbus his relationship with defensive line coach and local recruiting guru Larry Johnson and Coach Urban Meyer played a big role in his choice.
