JT Barrett Must Contend for Heisman for Ohio State to Reach Playoff

The 2016 Ohio State Buckeyes will be young…very young. That being said, they do return redshirt junior quarterback J.T. Barrett at what is essentially the most important position in football. Ohio State finished the 2015 season 12-1, a disappointing season in the eyes of many with future NFL talent all over the roster. Urban Meyer and company enter the 2016 season ranked 6th in the first AP Poll. For a team that returns just six starters, (three on each side of the ball) that is a higher ranking than most expected. One thing you can say however is that we’ve seen a young Ohio State team mature right in front of our eyes before. A prime example coming during the 2014 season where a team many thought was a season away from making noise in the playoff picture turned into the best team in the country on the way to a national championship. To expect this year’s Ohio State squad to replicate that feat is unreasonable, but the blueprint is there. If Ohio State expects to win a Big Ten championship and a birth in this years college football playoff, it will be on the back of two-time team captain J.T.
