TFF: Barrett, Elflein, McMillain among 7 Buckeye captains in 2016

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — The Ohio State football teams has decided who will join quarterback J.T. Barrett, offensive lineman Pat Elflein, and linebacker Raekwon McMillain as captains for the 2016 season. Senior linebacker Joe Burger, junior cornerback Gareon Conley, junior defensive end Tyquan Lewis, and junior guard Billy Price were the other four captains as voted by their teammates. Burger, from Cincinnati LaSalle, worked his way up from preferred walk-on status to a scholarship player. Conley, from Massillon Washington, is the only returning starter in the Ohio State secondary. He has two interceptions, seven pass break ups, and 65 total tackles in two years of playing time. Lewis led the Buckeyes with 8.0 sacks in 2015. OSU’s only returning starter on the defensive line has 16.5 career tackles-for-loss. Price is set to start at guard for the third consecutive season after he was named to the all-Big Ten third team last year. He’s started 28 consecutive games. Barrett, Elfein, and McMillain were voted as team captains shortly after Ohio State’s win 44-28 win over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. The Buckeyes open their season next Saturday when they host Bowling Green at Ohio Stadium.
